Steam China players are young, and 70% pay ¥25–70 for a premium game. Lesson 1.1 shows who they are and what they expect from yours.

46% are 18 to 22.

On HeyBox your score often runs 0.5–1 point below Steam. Lesson 2.5 shows how to read it; lesson 2.2 shows which reviews are venting and which need a reply.

Your score runs lower.

Lunar New Year, 618, Eastern Game Fest, Bilibili World, ChinaJoy and 11.11. Launch into the wrong one and the big publishers buy the attention. Lesson 4.2 has the calendar.

Six dates move sales.

First, who you're talking to.

4 lessons · 56 min. The Chinese PC player, the platforms they use, and Steam China versus global Steam.

Then your store page, through Chinese eyes.

7 lessons · 1 h 34 min. Store page, reviews, HeyBox, how players discover games, and pricing.

Then what China is worth to you.

2 lessons · 44 min. Matching your effort to your revenue, and checking a translation vendor before you pay.

Then marketing and timing.

4 lessons · 44 min. Platforms and formats, the Chinese calendar, older titles, and publishing deals.

Last, what gets a game buried.

2 lessons · 28 min. House rules, and culturalization beyond translation.

Culturalization for China: 19 short lessons, most under 15 minutes, recorded by Wojtek from real Chinese storefronts, reviews and creator videos. Every lesson has a worksheet you fill in for your own game.

Chinese Art & Aesthetics

A 71-page ebook for art directors and writers: real artworks, the Chinese term with pinyin, and what to borrow for characters, items, levels and UI.

In Chinese art, the object is never really the point. A bronze proved a ruler's right to rule, a brushstroke a scholar's character, a garden its owner's taste. Borrow the look without the meaning, and Chinese players notice.

Before you buy

What can I get for free?

The localization calculator, lesson 2.2 and the China Radar, with no email needed. Sign up for the founder letter and you also get lesson 2.7 on regional pricing.

Which one should I start with?

If you have one urgent problem, like bad Chinese reviews or a Chinese offer in your inbox, take that guide. If you're deciding how much to invest in China, take the course: it covers both problems briefly and includes the ebook.

Is the course long?

19 lessons, 4½ hours in total, and 11 of them run under 15 minutes. You don't need to watch them in order: each lesson stands on its own with its own worksheet.

Do I need to speak Chinese?

No. Every Chinese term comes with pinyin and a plain-English explanation. The reply templates in the Review Rescue Guide come with their English meaning. Have a native speaker glance at them before you post.

My game isn't out yet. Is it too early?

No, it's the best time. Store page, pricing, calendar and content risk are all easier to settle before launch, while changes are still cheap.

Do I need Steam China or an ISBN licence?

Most Western PC games reach Chinese players through global Steam. Lesson 1.3 explains the difference between releasing and publishing in China, and when the ISBN question becomes real.

How is this different from hiring Huqiao?

The Academy is for doing it yourself: understanding Chinese players and making the calls in-house. Huqiao's monthly plans are for when you want the team to run creators, community and channels for you.

Is this legal advice?

No. The Deal & Inbox Check helps you ask the right questions and spot red flags. Have a lawyer who reads Chinese contracts review anything you plan to sign.

Team licence or invoice?

What if it's not for me?
